An east tennessee native intrinsically tied to the land, donna paints what she sees. From landscapes, to livestock to all manner of battered and weathered things. she is drawn to textures and tones that convey the ethos of the of the land she loves.
The major influence on Donna Brass’ artistic direction came to her in the person of Xavier Ironside, a renowned Knoxville painter. He introduced her to watercolor, it’s transparent quality offering more creative potential than the opaque paints Donna was using. Later in her career she began to mix watercolor with acrylic for texture and depth.
